What does being a black creator mean to you?

E: Being a black creator means that when creating I am creating not only do I have to think about people in general, but I have to think about black people too because I was once a little girl watching others create. Back then there weren't really many people and if there were they were much older. So for me, I want to be a person who people can look to and the young ins can learn from.

Who or what inspires your work?

E: At first, I was definitely into the whole Aeropostale and Bethany Mota vibe. There was always Jasmine Brown, and she was always the one person I would look up to when it came to curly hair stuff. If I needed to learn how to do my own hair most of the time I just had to figure it out. I think most people just have to figure it out. They don't have people to show them but she was definitely there for me. Got me through it, and here I am now!

How did you decide to focus on hair in your content?

E: I wish it was all planned out from the beginning, but it was a kind of just a thing that happened. I was making funny little videos, and then one time someone commented ‘’Hey! Can you make a hair tutorial? and then a bunch of people liked that comment. I was like, okay. I'll give the people what they want. I made a video. It was a terrible video. It's not there anymore, just in case anyone tries to look for it. But, yeah. People wanted it, so I gave the people what they wanted.

How do you stay consistent? Are there any challenges?

E: I kind of go through? Stages. Sometimes I'll be consistent. But at the end of the day, I'll realize that it's okay to take time off. I also have a great support system that keeps me motivated. Even my mom, she'll be like, I haven't seen you post in a while. What's up? My sister, my friends, they'll all check up on me, so I'm lucky to have them.

Any advice for aspiring creators?

E: The biggest thing, just do it. I don't have a filter. I'm okay with being out there, but if you're not, you can find something to do where you don't need to have your face in the camera. But if you never start, you'll never get comfortable with it. So, just begin. Like Nike said, just do it.
